Fees
Merxian charges a fee on each completed transaction. The fee is a percentage of the transaction total plus a fixed charge. Your plan sets both parts.
The fee#
The fee has two parts:
- A percentage of the transaction total.
- A fixed charge. On Standard, the fixed charge is €0.40.
On Enterprise, you agree the percentage and the fixed charge with Merxian.
Merxian charges the fee once, when the transaction becomes completed. A transaction is completed when its payments collected the full amount. Merxian deducts the fee from your balance. There is no monthly fee and no setup fee.

A new account starts on Standard.
Other currencies#
The percentage is the same in every currency. For a transaction in another currency, Merxian converts the fixed charge from euros into the currency of the transaction and rounds it to the smallest unit of that currency. See Money and currencies.
Merxian cannot finalize a transaction in a currency for which it has no exchange rate. The finalize request returns 422 with the code fx_rate_unavailable, and details.currency names the currency. The transaction stays a draft.
When the rate is fixed#
Merxian fixes the rate of a transaction when you finalize it. The transaction keeps that rate. A change of plan applies only to transactions that you finalize after the change.
Refunds#
A refund returns part of the percentage fee, in proportion to the refunded amount. The fixed charge is not returned, also not on a full refund.

Chargebacks#
A chargeback does not return any part of the fee.
You pay every chargeback, on every plan. The chargeback amount comes from your balance. When a chargeback is reversed, the amount goes back to your balance.
Your balance can become negative after a chargeback. Merxian then pays out nothing until later sales cover the negative amount.
